INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Dr. Bambang Herry Purnomo, SH., MH, President of the World Peace Organization (WPO), attended the launch of the "ReDam Village" (Reconciliation and Peace Village) initiative in Manggarai, South Jakarta. The event marked the Ministry of Human Rights' effort to establish a center for promoting human rights and peace values in conflict-prone areas.
The ReDam Village aims to restore and reconcile areas with potential conflicts by rebuilding peace based on human rights values. The launch event was attended by Indonesian Minister of Human Rights, Natalius Pigai, Mayor of South Jakarta, M. Anwar, District Head of Tebet, Dyan Airlangga, Head of Manggarai, Arafat, and regional human rights officials, as well as WPO officials, including Secretary General Dr. Mari Paus and Vice President Dr. Himawan.
The Ministry of Human Rights plans to map conflict-prone areas across Indonesia and provide guidance for 3-5 years to achieve reconciliation and peace in these villages. Manggarai was chosen as the first location due to its history of conflicts in several areas.
In his speech, President WPO emphasized that "PEACE IS MORE DIGNIFIED THAN ANY JUST CONFLICT" (Pax dignior est quam quivis conflictus quantumvis iustus sit) and that the establishment of ReDam Village is a brilliant idea of Minister of Human Rights, Natalius Pigai, which must be supported and implemented thoroughly.
President WPO also stated that the absence of the State in the human rights entity in the past is a serious issue that needs to be evaluated and addressed through comprehensive policy changes. WPO promises to support the ReDam Village initiative until its completion and is ready to provide technological support to assist the Ministry of Human Rights in promoting peace. The event was held at The Grand Platinum Hotel Jakarta.
