World Children’s Day – A Call for Action
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
The world celebrates Children’s Day with various fun games and beautiful prayers. Usually, the spotlight is on happy, thriving children and quality schools. Yet, in many parts of the world, countless children are neglected, drop out of school, live as street vendors, beggars, buskers, or work odd jobs. Many become victims of physical and mental violence.
A significant number fall prey to child trafficking, organ trade, sexual exploitation, drugs, and alcohol. War victims suffer lasting trauma, and many face bullying, divorce-related hardships, and abuse.
It’s heartbreaking that happy children are far fewer than those in need.
Questions arise: Where is the role of the National Commission on Human Rights for Children (KOMNAS HAM Anak)? Where are the parents, teachers, and NGOs?
WPO (World Peace Organization), with its four pillars – Peace, Health, Education, and Prosperity – calls for:
Full protection of every child from violence, exploitation, and trafficking.
Equal access to quality education and healthcare.
Empowering families and communities to create safe, loving environments.
Multi-sector collaboration (government, NGOs, businesses, communities) to uphold children’s rights.
Let this Children’s Day be not just a celebration, but a commitment to protect, love, and empower every child on earth.
