Indonesian Ministry of Human Rights and Ambassador to Malaysia Strengthen Protection of Human Rights for Indonesian Migrant Workers

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 25 November 2025 – The Special Staff to the Minister of Human Rights (HAM) of the Republic of Indonesia, Wempy Wale, led a delegation in coordination with the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Hermono, to enhance the protection and fulfillment of human rights for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia.
The meeting convened on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, from 16:00 to 17:00 Malaysia Time at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur. Also in attendance were:
Yunita Christine, Head of Administration Subdivision, Directorate of Human Rights Services,
HE Parakas Marlan, Deputy Vice President for Legal, Justice, and Human Rights, World Peace Organization (WPO), and Analyst for Public Complaints, Directorate of Human Rights Services.




Discussions underscored the critical need to safeguard migrant workers’ rights from pre‑departure through employment and return, including the rights of their families. Ambassador Hermono emphasized that comprehensive protection of PMI must prioritize full respect for these rights.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Human Rights announced plans to station attachés in several countries, including Malaysia, to ensure effective implementation of human rights protections. The Ambassador welcomed the initiative and pledged continued collaboration with the Ministry.
This engagement reflects Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and upholding their rights.
